Any sufferer of hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating would want to find a home remedy with little or no side effects. Apple Cider Vinegar (shortened as ACV) may be the answer. Apple cider vinegar is a famous home remedy for too much sweating.
I read several posts on a health forum about finding an effective home remedy for hyperhidrosis. Many of them have had sympathectomy and are suffering from a known side effect called compensatory sweating. In another article about Endoscopic Thoracic Sympathectomy (ETS), we mentioned that compensatory sweating as a very obvious consequence of the surgery. After the invasive surgery, patients seek for a remedy that will ease the sweating condition that they feel.
Apple Cider Vinegar and Honey
Apple cider vinegar home remedy for hyperhidrosis can be taken orally. A mixture of two tsp of non-acidic apple cider vinegar and two tsp of thick honey is to be ingested daily in three doses. Some of those who have been relieved of their excessive sweating using this treatment recommend some brands of organic apple cider vinegar like Bragg’s and Omega Nutrition.
Using light honey syrup may not yield the expected result so thick honey is most preferred. They can be bought from health food stores or organic section in the supermarket or groceries. For optimum result, take the mixture 30 minutes before meal or before sleeping. Brush your teeth as the sticky honey might not be good for your teeth.
ACV for Specific Types of Hyperhidrosis
For axillary (armpit) , palmar (hand) and plantar (foot) hyperhidrosis, ACV can be applied topically on the areas where excessive sweating occurs. However, make sure that the area is completely dry after application.
Armpit Sweating
Before applying apple cider vinegar to the armpit area, shower and make sure that the skin in the armpits are oil and dirt-free. Using a cotton soaked in apple cider vinegar, rub the solution to the armpit area. This is to be done in the evening so that you can wash your armpits in the morning. It will work in maintaining the dryness underarm together with any normal deodorant.
Facial Sweating
Most facial hyperhidrosis is anxiety-related. You might be getting worried about facing a new client or making a presentation in front of your co-workers. You can treat your excessive sweating in the face by washing your face in the morning with gentle soap or mild liquid soap. Get a cotton swab that has been soaked in apple cider vinegar and apply on your face. Wash it off with cool water to achieve that astringent effect. It can be done several times during the day but watch out for any indication of skin irritation.
Hand Sweating
Always make sure that you wash your hands clean before you soak your hands in a bowl of one or two cups of apple cider vinegar. Because its vinegar, your skin might be irritated if you soak your hands often. When this happens, stop the procedure right away.
A home remedy like apple cider vinegar and honey mixture may be effective to some people with hyperhidrosis, while ineffective to others. When looking for an alternative cure to any disorder, it will always be trial-and-error until you finally find the one that best suits you. The only advantage is that home treatments and natural remedies usually have no irreversible side effects. You can always stop the treatment anytime.
